Sony Introduces Xperia ZR–A Smartphone That Allows Underwater Photography

Extending the family of Xperia Z,Sony announced another high-end android Smartphone,Xperia ZR.The new model is not only water and dust resistant but can also shoot videos and click photos under water.

indexYes,you read it right.Now you can dip your mobile in water without any worries,capture photos 5 feet deep under water.Though,Xperia Z also has water resistance,the level of it is less compared to Xperia ZR which has compliance rated IP55 and IP58.Xperia Z has IP55 AND IP57 compliant which means that it can be submerged into 3.3 feet of water.

The Sony Xperia ZR is saved against total immersion in water where as Xperia Z is only water resistant and if you want to take pictures,shoot videos under water with it,you will have a broken device.

At the launch, Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications said, “By combining Sony’s leading camera technology with the highest level of water-resistance, you will never miss another moment.The Xperia ZR delivers the unique smartphone experience that people can expect from Sony.”

The other key specifications include a 4.6 inch super-sharp HD Reality Display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.It is equipped with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro chip-set and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system.

indexPowered by 2300mAh battery,it has a 13MP camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera.It possess a 2GB RAM with an internal 8GB storage which can be extended up-to 32GB.

With a stylish black-monolith design,it is loaded with Sony media apps and has a stamina mode which can shut down unused components,thus increasing battery life.

The price and the availability of the product is yet to be announced but the company has announced that it will be released later this year.

The smartphone will come in four eye-catchy colours Pink, Cyan, Black and White.

Mobile lovers need to wait some more time to hold this device.The mobile can be submerged only in fresh water which means that one cannot take it with you for ocean dive or a public pool.
